Sessions range between 20-30 minutes. Studies show 30 minutes to be a sufficient amount of time for exercise for your dog without overexerting and risking injury due to exhaustion. Sessions may be shorter if dogs are not conditioned enough for a full session or have medical/physical conditions that limit their ability to exercise. How often should I exercise my dog?
We suggest 1 day a week if your dog is not well conditioned and increasing that to 3+ days a week as they become more conditioned and confident with exercising. We limit 1 session per day per dog for their health and safety.Do you work multiple dogs together?
Every session is a private 1-on-1 session. The only time we will run multiple dogs (2 max) is when they live together or pre-approved to be friendly with each other. What should I expect before my session?
Sessions are scheduled in 30 minutes blocks so please arrive a bit early so ensure there's no delays and you get your full time. Make sure your dog has had a recent potty break and do not feed within at least 2 hours of your session to prevent exercising on a full belly or full bowels as that would be uncomfortable for anyone. Before your first session you'll need to fill a Liability Waiver for each dog. If you have a harness you'd like to use, go ahead and put it on them ahead of time and bring your dog's favorite chew toy. If your dog has a history of biting, make sure your dog has a muzzle on when they arrive for everyone's safety. The muzzle will be removed after the dog is safely secured on the equipment. What should I expect during the session?
The goal is to give your dog a great and safe workout for the day. Since the equipment is powered by the dog, they can walk, trot, or run as much or as little as they like. We will encourage them with cheers, the toy you bring, and general energy. NOTHING is forced and the dog controls everything. The dog is always right! Since many dogs come to use for weight loss or have special diets, we don't provide treats but you may bring a small bag of cut up treats if you wish. You can stick around for the session or not. You're free to come and go as you please until the session is over. What should I expect after the session?
Your dog just had a good workout. They might sit on the cool floor for some time or they might have a burst of energy since their endorphins and adrenaline are pumping. Once their heart rate slows down and they relax the excess energy will be burned off and you can resume feedings. Just like how our muscles are sore after a good workout, their legs might be too so we suggest giving them a massage when able and allow plenty of water. When will my dog run full speed?
It depends on the dog. Some get right on and blast away after figuring out the equipment. Others take a few sessions to build confidence in themselves and the equipment first. The equipment if 100% doggy powered so they decide how fast or slow they will move and even if they're moving slow, they are still using their mind and body. They will be climbing uphill the entire session so even a slow pace is a fair bit of work. The rule is: The Dog is Always Right. What are the requirements to work with my dog?
Always clear any physical activity with your vet first. Dogs must be at least 4 months old and up to date on all vaccinations. If you know your dog has an aggressive history towards people or has bitten a person before, your dog will need to wear a muzzle whenever it's not on the equipment for everyone's safety.
